Kevin Glastonbury

Kevin Glastonbury 2009The decision to become a winemaker was an easy one for Kevin Glastonbury. A country boy, the synergy of soil, water and sun, plus a hands on and get dirty approach are paramount to Kevin’s character - and obvious attributes of a professional and successful winemaker.

Renowned for his red winemaking experience, Kevin has long understood that to be a complete winemaker one should be involved in the making of both red and white wines. Crafting the Hill Smith Estate Sauvignon Blanc provides Kevin with that opportunity.

“I’ve always held the Eden Valley in high regard as a wine growing region; it offers wines which are brighter, fresher, finer and more vibrant”, says Kevin. “Hill Smith Estate is a very special site, high in the Eden Valley ranges, offering perfect growing conditions that allow the intense and individual characters of Sauvignon Blanc to show out.”

Never one to follow the norm with his winemaking, KG has always tried to push the boundaries of individuality, allowing the wine to express itself. “Wine is a unique expression of the land. When you think about it, great wine is grown rather than made.”

Hill Smith Estate Sauvignon Blanc traditionally is known as a zingy, fresh and intense style of Sauvignon Blanc. Kevin sees his winemaking role as one that should continually challenge that traditional style and strive to further refine and evolve the wine.
